Clarinox Bluetooth® Classic Serial Port Profile (SPP)
id

clarinox-bluetooth-r-classic-serial-port-profile-spp

The Bluetooth® Serial Port Profile (SPP) of the ClarinoxBlue protocol stack with Bluetooth Classic runs on the Renesas PE-HMI1 Kit to connect and transfer bidirectional data. It uses the Bluetooth SPP Pro app running on an Android smartphone to pair with nearby Bluetooth devices.

The ClarinoxBlue stack includes a built-in protocol analyzer for simplified debugging that allows custom application commands to be sent using the DLL-based plug-in interface. It offers threading, memory usage and memory leak analysis, along with an API for messaging between processors.

Synergy Software Package (SSP) Components

SSP components are tightly integrated, optimized, tested, documented, and maintained by Renesas. A layered architecture enables developers to write their application with the Application Framework using common APIs, or by directly connecting to the device driver level as needed. Learn the functions of each SSP component here.

Software Quality

Renesas has established a Software Quality Assurance (SQA) process for the SSP to cover the necessary Testing and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

SSP quality is tracked and measured using combinations of unit, functional, integration, performance, regression, dynamic, and static analysis tests. To ensure high quality, production grade Software, SSP is developed and tested to ensure adherence with the four quality metrices

  • Meet coding standards

  • Maintain low code complexity

  • Build cleanly

  • Comprehensive module and system level testing

License

Two types of SSP licenses are available with a valid user or company registration.

License Type Description Fee How to Get
Evaluation Access to complete SSP functionality for evaluation purposes. No Fee Included with SSP installer that can be downloaded after creating a Synergy account.
Development / Production Access to all SSP functionality and required for development and production purposes. No Fee Requires Company registration and can only be generated by the Company Super User. License is granted per Company, accessible to all users associated with the Company registration.

Important notes for tools for SSP v2.0.0:

  • The SSC v2021.05 is available from the SSC page on Gallery. All releases of SSC for EWSYN will continue to be distributed from Gallery.

  • The practice of publishing separate e2Studio releases for Synergy have been discontinued and henceforth SSP users will be required to use the latest version of e2Studio that is released for all Renesas MCU products.

  • For SSP v2.0.0 e2Studio can be downloaded from the download page for e2Studio on Renesas.com. Older archived versions of e2Studio for Synergy will continue to be available on the e2Studio page of Synergy Gallery. It’s strongly recommended that users don’t use the older versions of e2Studio for SSP 2.0.0 and future releases

  • The Capacitive touch driver and framework has been redesigned and the older Cap touch modules have been depricated.

  • QE for Capacitive Touch for Synergy  is available for download from the QE for Cap Touch home page on Renesas.com

  • Capacitive touch users are advised to upgrade their projects to the new redesigned capacitive touch modules wherever feasible. The older version of the modules has been deprecated and are planned to be removed from future SSP releases

  • Users are required to download the Microsoft AzureRTOS GUIX Studio from the Microsoft App Store for Windows. Users don’t require a Microsoft account for downloading this tool, and if they are prompted to create an account or sign-in, users can choose the “No, Thanks” option to cancel the sign-in process and proceede to the next step for downloading the tools

  • If users have an existing Microsoft account, then they can login and download the AzureRTOS tools, however if they have any difficulty with the downloads then users should logout of their account and try downloading them

  • Users can continue using the TraceX v5.2 available on Synegry Gallery with SSP v2.0.0.

  • Documentation for AzureRTOS modules are available on github (links provided in SSP Release Note); No seperate documentation package for AzureRTOS will be provided on Gallery

* Users planning to use exFAT provided with SSP 2.0.0 in production software should contact Renesas or Microsoft to confirm compliance with exFAT licensing requirements.
